The Volvo XC40 is Volvo’s new small premium SUV and the first ever Volvo model to win the European Car of the Year award. The XC40 is the first car based on the new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which is an advanced vehicle platform that was co-developed within the Geely Group and gives Volvo the necessary economies of scale for this segment.
All new Volvos are connected, thanks to an infotainment system called Sensus. It provide a touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment applications such as Spotify, Pandora, Baidu or TuneIn. The portrait touch screen helps easy and fast access to a host of functions and features. It also comes with smartphone integration Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The XC40 is powered by Volvo’s Drive-E petrol engines linked to an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The XC40 is the first Volvo model to use the brand’s new three-cylinder engine, the first in the brands’s history and based on the same modular design as its four-cylinder engines. The power output for the XC40 petrol and diesel ranges from 150 bhp to 247 bhp. The specs for the XC40 range from the R-Design, Momentum and the Inscription.
