The Future Of Vauxhall In The UK

15th Nov 2017

New Vauxhall boss Carlos Tavares has restated his strong intent to Vauxhall avoid redundancies and keep both plants open in the UK.

Vauxhall/Opel brands were acquired earlier in the year from the PSA Group - owners of manufacturers Peugeot, Citroen and DS. Since the acquisition a plan has put in place to revive the brands that have struggled to make a profit for a couple of decades now. The plan - known as Pace! - was revealed in a press conference this month.

At the time the PSA Group did suggest that all factories, including those based in Ellesmere Port and Luton would be safe from closure. Further reassurance has now come from the new management of the Vauxhall brand in Carlos Tavares.

Speaking at an event in Paris, Carlos Tavares restated his “strong intention” to avoid redundancies and closures, saying that “everyone will have a chance”. He continued to say that they “understand that the Vauxhall brand warms the heart of the British people. As long as we can make money in the UK, we will be just fine”.
