The All-New BMW X2
BMW announced the latest addition to the X line-up towards the end of last year, the all-new BMW X2, debuting at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
The Detroit Motor Show 2018 will play host to the debut appearance of several vehicles, including the all-new BMW X2. The latest model in the X family will join a exciting BMW line-up including the new i3s and i8 Roadster models. The new model will sit in-between the pre-existing X1 and X3 as a fashionable alternative still benefiting from a more spacious and versatile body type.
The all-new BMW X2 is an incredibly fashionable vehicle that retains the majority of the styling cues of the X2 Concept that was revealed last year. BMW state that the X2 “appeals primarily to a young and young-at-heart, urban and active target group who are keen to see their personal character reflected on the road through an emotionally-engaging car.”
The vehicle is based on the manufacturers UKL platform which has previously been used in the 2 Series Active Tourer, 2 Series Gran Tourer and MINI Countryman models. As such, the new model will feature a two-wheel-drive petrol sDrive 20i and two four-wheel-drive diesel options in the xDrive 20d and xDrive 25d. As for performance figures the sDrive20i produces 228bhp and reaches 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds.
The BMW X2 cabin borrows many of the styling cues of the highly acclaimed X1 interior, with black panel instruments, multifunction steering wheel, iDrive and a 6.5-inch infotainment display included as standard. Options include a larger 8.8-inch screen, a full colour heads-up display, WiFi hotspot preparation and Apple CarPlay.
The BMW X2 is available to order now, with first UK deliveries expected around March. List prices begin from £33,980 for the 20d SE derivative.
