New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Mitsubishi are ready to impress at the Geneva Motor Show, revealing the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV alongside their e-EVOLUTION concept.
With two new vehicle debuts, Mitsubishi are set to have an impressive showcase at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The new Outlander PHEV, the best selling plug-in hybrid vehicle for three years running, receives substantial upgrades. The 2019 variant receives several upgrades including a new petrol engine, a more powerful electric motor and a refined style.
The upcoming model is to receive an upgraded 2.4-litre engine to replace the existing 2.0-litre unit. There is also a 15% increase in battery capacity for a total 13.8kWh and a 10% increase in battery output. The electric motor is also said to receive a 10% increase in output. It is expected that this increase in power will not result in any range decrease in the current 25 miles pure electric range..
The exterior also receives several subtle tweaks including new LED tech-look headlamps and a more prominent front grille with the brands “dynamic shield” design. A more intricate design also is promised for new 18 inch alloy wheels, whilst the rear of the car is said to receive a larger spoiler for a “more sophisticated look”.
The interior also receives a more upmarket interior, with the use of high-grade quilted leather and ergonomic seating. The vehicle also adds new sport mode for greater driving enjoyment and a snow mode for greater control of the vehicle on snow-covered or otherwise slippery surfaces.
Mitsubishi will also debut the e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT, an all-electric high-peformance SUV, for the first time in Europe. The concept originally debuted at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, showcasing the manufacturers bold strategy for the future. With aggressive looks, an in-car artificial intelligence system and use of three electric motors - the concept is a remarkable statement for potential Evo models in the future.
