New Mercedes GLE Revealed
Mercedes have revealed the next generation of their large luxury SUV, the 2019 Mercedes GLE, with a modern cabin and refreshed exterior style.
The new Mercedes GLE demands more road presence than ever, larger than the existing model and with prominent design changes. Revisions at the front of the vehicle include the latest headlight profile and a bolder grille. The rear of the vehicle has also been tweaked with a blacked out pillar and a narrower, slim lime design for the tail lights. The new model is also now available with an optional third row of seats, to total up to seven.
The interior of the GLE benefits from the latest technology in the form of MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience). This modern system makes use of dual-screens, one for a digital instrument cluster and a more central screen for traditional infotainment functions. There is also more space inside than ever before, with more headroom for rear passengers and a 125-litres increase in boot space.
New air vents also feature in the dashboard, whilst a wooden trim makes the cabin even more upmarket. Equipment is also improved upon, with a wide range of safety and driver assistance features. These include active distance assist, active stop-go assist and active steering assist.
The new Mercedes GLE will be available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, alongside a plug-in hybrid option. Initial options will be between the GLE 450 4MATIC which utilises a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol hybrid powertrain or a GLE 300d which is driven by a 2.0-litre diesel. Every configuration will be paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and makes the most of Mercedes 4MATIC four-wheel-drive system.
