Mini Electric Teaser Sketches
The first official images have been released teasing the Mini Electric that is due out in 2019, with the new sketches showcasing design cues.
Two images have been released by parent company BMW, both of which revealing that the 2019 Mini Electric will benefit from the concepts vehicles design language. The first image is a close up the electric Mini’s grille, with a closed-off design of the brands traditional hexagonal shape. Cooling elements feature behind, whilst the closed off design is said to improve aerodynamics.
A contrasting yellow makes runs across the grille for a characteristic look, with an ‘E’ badge proudly featuring in the same colour tone. The eye-catching wheel design of the concept vehicle is also retained for the production version, which features a mostly covered design that also is said to improve aerodynamic performance. The same contrasting yellow surrounds the alloy and Mini branding.
The electric Mini has been eagerly awaited for numerous years now, with numerous concepts spanning all the way back to the 2008 Mini E. Production variants are to be built in Oxford and in China too, with the model available to lease next year. Little is confirmed this point about the powertrain or performance figures, but expect more information as it becomes available.
