Mazda Kai Concept Reveal
Mazda have revealed their latest concept, the Mazda Kai, at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show with clear indications of what we to expect from the 2019 Mazda 3.
Unlike other concept cars which can only dream to see on the road, Mazda’s design chief has suggested that the Mazda Kai has been styled to be built. This is further proven by the fact that the Mazdia Kai is not just a design concept, but plays host to a prototype for the SkyActivX gasoline engine and vehicle architecture. This advanced technology features compression-ignition, meaning the concept uses a spark plug as combustion control for more performance and greater fuel economy.
The concept car shows off some bold design languages changes that Mazda are looking to make. Even though there are less styling cues on the car, it creates an elegant new direction for the brand. Despite going for a much cleaner look, overall the concept looks forward thinking and striking in its design. Mazda call this ‘a more mature expression of the KODO design language’.
Mazda in their press release contuine to say that ‘The KAI CONCEPT features muscular, solid proportions and its form is brought to life by a delicate flow of reflections over the body sides.’ However, Mazda have not stopped there stating that ‘Refinements in all areas of dynamic performance have produced a dramatically quieter, more comfortable ride and an enhanced performance feel.’
