2018 BMW i8 Roadster Teaser
BMW have released a teaser video showing the production of the upcoming BMW i8 Roadster, prior to a full reveal at the LA motor show.
Whilst the manufacturer had previously confirmed the model, and spy shots leaked of the vehicle - the clip does offer greater confirmation of both looks and the folding fabric roof. It also conveys a laborious production and testing process that the manufacturer have gone through to create a drop-top as fundamentally sound as the traditional coupe model.
Keen observers have noted that at the end of the clip the BMW i8 Roadster has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 2.1L/100km, whilst energy consumption is rated at 14.7kWh/100km. This is compared to the traditional coupe model which had fuel consumption figures of 2.0L/100km and 14.2kWh/100km.
If these figures are proven to be true then it will be interesting to see a potential improvement in performance figures, especially the number of seconds it achieves 0-62mph in. Whilst no further information has surfaced as of yet, sources have suggested that the brand will make a full reveal at the LA Motor Show, with press getting the first look towards the end of November.
