2018 A6 Avant Unveiled
Audi have unveiled their new Audi A6 Avant now with a sweeping roofline, mild-hybrid powertrains and upmarket cabin technology.
After revealing the new A6 Saloon at last months Geneva Show, Audi did not take long to unveil the new Avant variant. The A6 Avant has introduced considerable improvements over the existing model, with a sportier asthetic without any compromise in practicality. Advanced technology also features, including mild-hybrid powertrains.
The A6 Avant has received significant tweaks to the existing vehicles design. The new model is larger than the previous model, now offering 565 litres of luggage space (1,680-litres with the rear seats down). Arguably more impressive is the new look, with a more athletic design thanks to a now swooping roofline that remarkably has not reduced the ample space available.
Audi have also improved the technology on offer in the A6 Avant’s cabin. Inspired by the upmarket A8 model, the new A6 will feature a dual-touchscreens at the centre of the dashboard with Audi Virtual Cockpit featuring behind the steering wheel. Sizes vary depending on options selected, with the top of the line offering a 10.1-inch display featuring above an 8.6-inch screen.
Four and six-cylinder TDI and TFSI engines are available, and all utilise Audi mild-hybrid technology. This technology uses a belt alternator starter which stores energy recovered from braking in a spare lithium-ion battery. Two engines will be available initially, a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI petrol outputting 335bhp and a 3.0-litre TDI diesel producing 282bhp. The diesel manages 40.6mph whilst the petrol offers 33.1mph.
