Readers of BusinessCar magazine have recently voted the new Volkswagen Golf as the 2010 Business Car of the Year, in a year when all the German car manufacturers top the honours lists in their respective categories.

BusinessCar Editor Paul Barker said the Volkswagen Golf had always been favoured in the business world because it offered “a combination of brand prestige and appeal, great running costs and a good drive”.

The BusinessCar awards are highly prized by vehicle manufacturers as they are the only awards in the market judged solely by the readership. The awards are designed to highlight the best in business, and are chosen by the people whose firms depend on using top-quality products, technology and services on a daily basis. . The results can also be seen as a fair and accurate portrayal of which companies are highly regarded by the fleet community.

Fellow compatriots BMW and Audi also faired extremely well in the awards, with BMW picking up no less than 6 awards including Manufacturer of the Year, class wins for the 1-, 3- 5-Series and X5 families, as well as a coveted and PR-friendly Environmental Award for all their efforts on the Efficient Dynamics package. Audi scooped three awards including the luxury section award for the A8, the small 4×4 award for the Q5 and the R8 picked up the sports car title. The Mini and Fiat 500 took the small car crowns, and Ford’s S-MAX and Galaxy took the MPV awards.
