Next month, the first models of the new Volkswagen Golf Estate range go on sale in the UK, offering the new and neater styling found on the current Golf hatchback and the same combination of style and build quality that made the VW Passat Estate an award winner across the globe.
New rear lights, body coloured bumpers and alloy wheels bring the estate up-to-date on the exterior, and a new dash design and upholstery improve the already superb Golf interior. There are three trim levels: S, SE and Sportline.

Two petrol and three diesel engine options are available, from a 1.2-litre 104bhp TSI up to a 2.0-litre 138bhp TDI. The Golf Estate also has the now customary BlueMotion variant, which is now no longer the name of a separate range but refers to the most economical member of each family in the VW range.
The BlueMotion is not just about engine performance but includes plenty of innovative technology to improve overall efficiency: low resistance tyres, battery regeneration, hill start and stop/start functions, and even an indication of when best to change gears for optimal economy. Based on the 1.6-litre TDI, the BlueMotion can offer up to 104bhp and CO2 emissions of just 109g/km, as well as an impressing 67.3mpg. A seven-speed dual clutch DSG system is also offered.
VW are taking orders for the Golf Estate now, but the BlueMotion variants will only arrive in the UK next Spring.
