Volkswagen have managed to take the most attractive saloon on the market, according to the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards in July, and added an R-line trim to make it even more appealing.
The Passat-based four-door coupe is undoubtedly one of the sleekest mid-size designs available, and the R-line package upgrades the overall looks to be more sporty and aggressive with a few R logos sprinkled inside and out, a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, specially designed tread plates inside each door, 17-inch Monte Carlo alloys, smoked rear lights and a neat, newly designed spoiler and new side skirts completing the facelift.
Just like the S-line package offered by Audi, the R-line upgrade is purely cosmetic, and engines, transmission and suspension are not uprated to match the looks, which is a shame!
The base Passat already offers superb value for money with its fantastic styling, excellent build quality and extras like sports seats and climate control as standard. Furthermore, the R-line package is a £600 premium over the entry level model, but you get £2470 worth of extras. So adding the improved looks with R-line to the Passat saloon and estate range just makes the whole package a fantastic buy.
The R-line options will be available soon, but you can lease a Volkswagen Passat CC from just £365.24 per month.
