Volkswagen Caravelle – The Stylish Family Bus

VW Caravelle

If you have a whole houseful of kids, then you will be pleased to know that the Volkswagen Caravelle has been given a facelift, so you can take them to school in style. The VW Caravelle is a transporter van with seats and windows, which won’t give you the most comfortable or thrilling ride of your life, but it does have engines that will not disappoint as they are very well polished and fairly smooth.

The noticeable visual changes are to the front of the Caravelle and include new headlights and front grille, which give it a more up to date look bringing it in line with the latest-generation VW’s, and also new rear lights, alloy wheels and door mirrors.

The main changes have been made under the bonnet with the Caravelle now being powered by a choice of four 2.0-litre common-rail turbodiesel engines, with power outputs of 82bhp, 100bhp, 138bhp and a twin-turbo unit with 178bhp.

The interior in the new Caravelle is not that dissimilar from the current model.  The seating system will remain the same with the two seats in the middle row being able to swivel to face the three seats in the back row.  This creates a lounge style seating plan, and a great hang-out for the kids should you want them out of the house!  As you can imagine, there is space in abundance for driver and passengers too, along with plenty of storage space.  The aerials for the radio, Bluetooth and sat-nav are housed in the door mirrors, a new feature for the Caravelle.

To make the school run that bit easier is the new power-steering system, along with safety equipment also being improved.  Other features include the electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a blind-spot alert system.

Prices for the new VW Caravelle are expected to be around £30k and will go on sale in January or you can lease the current model from £ 451.39 per month.
