Volkswagen is set to launch a Bluemotion version of its Caddy van in the next couple of months, which will be the first LCV to show off the Bluemotion badge. This follows on from Ford’s introduction of the Econetic version of the Fiesta Van and Transit.
The VW Caddy range is doing extremely well at the moment and has recently added a further two industry awards to its already bulging trophy case.
The Bluemotion Caddy is based on the Caddy Life version and is powered by a 104bhp 1.9-litre TDI engine and returning claimed combined fuel economy of 5.7 litres per 100 km. CO2 emissions are 149 g/km.
Other technological features of the Bluemotion Caddy are as offered in a VW Bluemotion car, which include higher gear ratios for lower rpm at cruising speed, aerodynamic tweaks, lower ride height and low rolling resistance tyres.

John Rawlings, the VW Commercial Vehicles spokesman said: “The launch of the Caddy Bluemotion has been driven by customer demand. In the majority of cases, our fleet sales team is asked about Volkswagen’s green credentials as part of the tender process, especially among local authorities. Hopefully there will be further BlueMotion models to come.”
The Caddy Bluemotion will be joined by the Caddy EcoFuel in November, which will be powered by either compressed natural gas (CNG) or bio-methane sourced from landfill waste.
With Bluemotion not available just yet, lease the current Volkswagen Caddy from just £230.80 per month.
