Two new compact SUV’s are making their way to the UK and the small off-roaders will be available in either two or four wheel drive.

This is all thanks to an alliance between Mitsubishi and the PSA Peugeot Citroen group and the new models will be launched in early 2012 and will feature unique styling.  The small off-roaders will be based on the existing Mitsubishi ASX platform which is due to go on sale here soon.

Several of the models will be powered by Peugeot and Citroen’s 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine, and the most economical front-wheel drive model should emit just 123g/km of CO2.

No names have been given to the new models but they will feature subtly different interiors and exteriors to keep in line with their respective brand identities.

It is not the first time that the three car makers have to worked together as they had a similar partnership for the Mitsubishi Outlander, Peugeot 4007 and the Citroen C-Crosser.

Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Citroen are hoping that annual sales of the new SUV’s will total around 50,000 units each.
