Toyota’s Marks X G Sports Model

Toyota Mark X G Sports Concept

Toyota has unveiled a new version of the Mark X at Tokyo’s Auto Salon motor show, where it has been given the firm’s G Sports makeover.

The G Sports Series is Toyota’s new sector designed to give the company a more sporty edge, which is something the car manufacturer’s president is keen to encourage.

A total of five motors will undergo the G Sports treatment, and even the Toyota FT-86, the company’s rear-wheel drive coupe concept hasn’t escaped, making the centrepiece for the Toyota stand.  The Prius G Sports was also revealed at the Auto Salon, displaying a makeover that seems to have increased the car’s likeability.

Although no official details have been released about the performance of the Mark X, word has it that power will come from a 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 314bhp and 380Nm of torque.   Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Styling changes for the G Sports model include a new front bumper, grille and bonnet, and LED daytime running lights.  The rear end gets a new bumper with an integrated spoiler, a four-pipe exhaust system, and a boot-mounted spoiler.  Other changes include front fender vents and aggressive side skirts, along with some massive 20″ alloys with high performance, specially developed Yokohama Advan Sport tyres.

The interior is kitted out with a sports steering wheel with red stitching and faux carbon fibre accents, RECARO sport seats, faux carbon fibre trim, and an Alpine audio system.

A range of accessories for the Mark X, along with the other G Sports in the range, will be sold in Japanese Toyota dealerships from later this year.
