The New ‘Cheap’ 4×4 Mini

BMW Mini Crossman

The covers were finally lifted off the 2011 Mini Countryman in Geneva today and there were no surprises to be had. With optional all-wheel drive, the Countryman will offer a unique driving experience that will target groups requiring more space and flexibility than a Clubman and it’s the first modern Mini you could genuinely consider as a family car.

The New 2011 Mini Countryman is very different to the original 1960′s model.  The New Countryman provides even greater freedom of space, a slightly elevated seating position and optimised driving comfort and safety thanks to the optional All4 all-wheel drive system.

Not much has changed in the front of the cabin for the new Countryman compared to its two-door counterparts, however the second set of doors open up to two individual buckets that should be relatively hospitable for normal sized adults.  The leg room still isn’t great but this is a Mini still afterall.  There will be a choice of three familiar petrol and diesel engeines.  The entry level engine is a 89bhp diesel while the range topping 181bhp Cooper S Countryman comes with the latest twin-scroll turbo 1.6 petrol engine complete with direct injection and variable-valve timing. As with the rest of the Mini models, the Countryman will be offered with a wide range of customisation and equipment options on both the exterior and interior including an extra-large Panoramic roof.

The 2011 Mini Countryman will go on sale in the UK in September with prices starting at around £17,000 and once again the Mini brand is proving it’s ability to grow with the demands of it’s fans and followers.
