Set to make it’s debut at next week’s 2010 Geneva Motor Show is the Porsche Cayenne 2011. The new model features a much sleeker appearance with a new front grille and a more rounded sexy rear end. The interior has been redesigned with nearly everything having been tweaked.
For those of you wanting performance and excellent fuel economy you will have the choice of the Cayenne S Hybrid and Cayenne Diesel. Fuel economy has never been a strong point for the Cayenne but according to Porsche all 2011 Cayenne models are more fuel-efficient with fuel consumption down by as much as 23%. A new eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and automatic start-stop function will help improve fuel economy as well. Not surprisingly, the Cayenne S Hybrid is the most fuel efficient model capable of running for short periods at up to 40mph on electricity alone, the Cayenne S Hybrid achieves 34.4mpg and 193g/km of CO2 on the official combined consumption cycle.
The new Cayenne is lighter, longer and lower than the current Cayenne. The wheelbase is longer by 40mm and the whole car is actually 48mm longer meaning much more cabin room and with it’s high centre console it gives the driver a cockpit-like feel up front.
The new Cayenne is due to go on sale on 29th May 2010 with prices starting at around £41,000.
Porsche are hoping that this new model will prove just as popular as it’s predecessor and if first impressions are anything to go on, they are already onto a winner.
