Peugeot BB1 – A Scooter and Car Offspring

Even though this funky little concept car is only 2.5 meters long, it can squeeze in four passengers and take them all on a very interesting and enjoyable journey.

The Peugeot team have had a very good week at the Frankfurt motor show by first showing off with the fantastic looking RCZ, then demonstrating their ecofriendly side with their electric iOn, and then completely surprising everyone with this new concept car, the BB1.

Putting it mildly, the Peugeot BB1 Concept is a very different type of car, both inside and out.  With Peugeot’s scooter division also contributing on the design, the BB1 is half scooter and half car, with its motorcycle-type handlebars, and other space saving features including hand controls and no foot pedals.

By putting the driver in a very upright position, the interior manages to accommodate four passengers, but depending on what combination of luggage/people you need to carry, the inside is also fully customisable.

The chassis for the BB1, made of carbon-fibre and also designed by Peugeot’s scooter division, shows its unusual exterior shape that makes a suggestion about the innovative seating positions inside the cabin.

This all electric super-cute car only weighs 600kg, and has two Michelin-developed hub electric motors mounted in the rear wheels.  These produce up to 15Kw (20bhp) and 640Nm, with a top speed of 90Km/h.  Lithium ion batteries are the car’s energy and provide a range of 75 miles.

The Peugeot BB1 may not be your first choice to get you from A to B, but what it lacks in practicality, it really does make up for in abundance with cuteness and definitely individuality!

Until the Peugeot BB1 is available, there’s a variety of Green Car Leasing deals available.
