Nissan have announced that the very square Cube will be going on sale in January here in the UK.
Buyers will be able to choose between two trim levels which will share the same engine. The Cube will be powered by a 1.6-litre, 180bhp petrol engine with either a manual gear box or Nissan’s own CVT gear box. It will be capable of producing an average fuel economy of 42.8mpg, with CO2 emissions of 151g/km. There will be an addition of a 1.5-litre diesel option available from May next year.
Cube’ is the basic entry level trim which includes a glass roof, rear privacy glass, cruise control and Bluetooth. The higher priced ‘Kaizen’ trim includes an upgraded audio and satellite navigation system, a rear parking camera and climate control.
The quirky exterior look of the Cube continues inside the cabin. The Japanese car manufacturer has fitted a large triple-layered glass sun-roof that comes with a traditional ‘shoji’ shade made of rice paper. And designed to imitate the calming effect of ripples on water, there is a ‘water drop’ theme throughout the cabin too.
If you get your order in early enough, you could get yourself a special ‘LDN’ edition model. These Cubes will be limited to the first 100 units sold and painted in a “unique” brown colour with matching suede interior. Although this model is slightly more expensive than the standard Cube, it does include climate control and automatic lights and wipers as standard.
Nissan are also offering the chance to personalise your Cube with a variety of options such as exterior graphics – maybe with the addition of different coloured squares, there is also the choice of making your own humungous Rubik’s Cube?
