Pictures of BMW’s new M5 super saloon have been leaked online a week before it was scheduled to be released.
The new M5 is the fifth-generation of the high-performance model and will come with a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine and 552bhp. Average fuel consumption has improved on the new model by more than 30% to 28.5mpg and CO2 emissions have reduced to 232g/km. Engine stop-start system and the brake energy regeneration system now come as standard.
The new model comes with a range of high-tech features. There are three settings for the electronically controlled suspension and steering which will allow the driver to choose from a range of settings including comfort, sport and a sport plus setting which will help on difference road conditions. There are the bespoke M sport seats and the M5 badges along with a great range of standard equipment.
The oustside isn’t that different from the concept version which was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show apart from slightly different wing mirrors and slightly bigger side skirts. There will also be a choice of either 19 or 20 inch alloy wheels.
Despite having a slightly smaller engine than the existing model it still puts it ahead of its main rival the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
The new M5 is due to go on sale in November with an estimated price of £73,000 and it will be BMW’s most powerful M5 to date.
