Mercedes GLK Gets The Brabus Treatment

Tuners Brabus have added another creation to their ever-growing list of modified cars with the Mercedes-Benz GLK being the latest to receive the German makeover.  And although it may not be their most attractive conversion to date, it certainly appears to hold the title for being the fastest street-legal SUV in the world, with a claimed top speed of a whopping 211mph.

The team started off by replacing the factory 5.5-litre engine with a Mercedes V12, 6.3-litre engine, and hooked it up with two turbochargers, two intercoolers, and a large stainless steel exhaust system with high flowing catalytic converters.  This helps it to produce a staggering 750bhp at 5,500rpm and 811lb-ft of torque, getting you from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and up to 125mph in about 12 seconds.

Brabus didn’t stop there either – they decided to customise the interior and exterior of the SUV to match the amazing results under the bonnet.  The exterior has been styled with all black after market parts; including the massive 22″ rims wrapped in either Pirelli or Yokohama high performance tyres to complete the look. Beneath the wheels are huge twelve-piston front callipers clamping onto 15-inch discs, and six-piston callipers in the rear with 14.2-inch rotors and a fully adjustable coil over suspension kit for travelling at such high speeds.

This exclusive GLK V12 is pricey to say the least. With a price-tag of $580,000 (about £354k), you can buy two very cool Ferrari 458 Italias.  However, when you consider the GLK’s 0-62 sprint and the fact that it is an SUV and has enough space for all of the shopping; it definitely gives you something to think about before parting with your cash.
