The Mazda6 has been given a little makeover, which is set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will arrive in the UK in the spring.
The Japanese-specification version of the company’s Ford Mondeo rivalling car gets some exterior styling changes, including one obvious change. The Mazda6 has adopted the new Mazda family nose, with a redesigned bumper, bigger lower air intakes with new headlights, with new tail lights and fresh alloys completing the look. Mazda claim that the new looks give the new Mazda6 ‘more sportiness and clearer premium identity’.
The inside has been given a sleek glossy piano-black finish for the centre console, and some extra chrome trim on the climate control dials, gear lever and door handles.
There is now a choice of six power outputs under the bonnet, three of which come from the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel. Petrol engine power comes from the existing 1.8-litre and 2.5-litre, along with an all-new, direct injection 2.0-litre, which will offer more power than the outgoing 2.0-litre, but is cleaner and more efficient.
Mazda have also made other changes including revised chassis settings and power steering to improve handling and ride comfort, and have added pivoting headlights and hill-start assist.
