Volkswagen’s first small off-roader is neatly styled, well equipped and powered by some very impressive engines.  It also has a pleasingly smart image too, with a classy, spacious and flexible cabin.

The 2.0-litre TSI engine comes with 200bhp and is the most powerful model in the petrol range.  Average combined fuel economy is 33.2mpg and CO2 emissions are around 199g/km.  The top speed of the 2.0-litre TSI is 130mph and it takes a time of 7.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62mph.

Like all Volkswagen’s the fit and finish of the cabin is excellent and there is an upmarket feel inside.  Opt for the panoramic sunroof and the interior will feel exceptionally light.  The dashboard layout is neat and the seat and steering wheel both adjust helping you to find that comfortable driving position.  Legroom in the back is a little tight although there is plenty of room for three passengers in the back.  The boot is large and pull a lever and the seats collapse for an almost totally flat floor giving you great space for large loads.
