Lease a Volkswagen Eos Coupe Cabriolet from only £329.29 per month plus VAT.

The Volkswagen Eos Coupe Cabriolet is a stylish looking car that is good to drive, and has plenty of rear space.  The clever metal folding roof and upmarket interior make the Eos a great choice of Cabriolet.

There is a good choice of engines in the Eos range.  The entry-level is a 1.6-litre 115bhp but feels very sluggish and is best avoided.  The 2.0-litre 150bhp is a better choice and will take around 9.8 seconds to reach 0-62mph but needs to be worked to get the best out of it.  The best engine is the 2.0 TSI 200bhp which will reach 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds and offers great pulling power.  The most powerful engine is a 3.2-litre V6 with 250bhp which offers a smooth and refined ride although fuel economy isn’t particuarly great at 31mpg.  In November 2007 the 1.6-litre was replaced by a newer 1.4 TSI and it uses turbochargers to deliver a quick reponse.  There are two versions of this engine, one with 122bhp and one with 160bhp.  The more powerful 160bhp will take just 8.8 seconds to reach 0-62mph.  The diesel engine is the 2.0 TDI 140bhp which is used across the Volkswagen range.  It can be noisy on start-up but it does provide strong in-gear acceleration and returns an impressive fuel economy of 50mpg.  Earlier models have a slick six-speed manual gearbox but all later models now have the option of a DSG semi-automatic gearbox.  In 2010 a Bluemotion Technology version was launched which is powered by a 1.4 TSI 122bhp petrol engine and thanks to a start/stop system it returns an impressive 46mpg and emits 144g/km of CO2.

The interior of the Eos offers a really upmarket feel with the subtle use of chrome and pleasant looking plastics and large user-friendly buttons.  There is plenty of head and legroom in the back which is rare in a car of this type so two adults are able to sit in comfort.  Visibility is excellent thanks to a lower and more upright windscreen and with a highly adjustable seat and steering wheel everyone should find a comfortable driving position.  The roof also features a glass panel which provides a light and airy interior.  The metal folding roof isn’t unusual in convertibles this size but the Eos comes with a five-piece mechanism which takes around 25 seconds to fold neatly away.  Boot space is sufficient for a couple of cases with the roof folded, and average for the class with it raised.

Every Eos comes with Electronic Stabilisation Programme, dual front, side and curtain airbags, front fog lights, electric windows, air conditioning, electric heated and adjustable wing mirrors, a CD stereo, 16-inch alloy wheels and parking sensors.  Sport models add 17-inch alloy wheels, additional chrome grille trim, red rear light clusters, sports suspension, aluminium look pedals and dash inserts.  In November 2008 a new entry-level S model was introduced and the standard model was renamed SE and now comes with extras such as rain sensitive wipers, automatic lights, electrically foldable door mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels.  The Bluemotion Technology model is available in S and SE trims.

The Eos was awarded four out of a possible five stars in the official Euro NCAP crash tests and all cars come with dual front, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability programme, ABS and Isofix child seat mounting points.  All cars also come with remote central locking and an immobiliser.

The Volkswagen Eos provides a high quality finish and excellent equipment levels and is spacious and comfortable to drive.
