Seat has lived up to its reputation for producing sporty cars with this sharp, precise and fun to drive Leon.
The Leon Diesel hatchback 2.0 TDI is based on the Golf but with its distinctive and athletic looks you would never know. It’s thrifty engine offers an impressive combined fuel economy of 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
The Leon is wide and tall resulting in a very spacious and solid cabin with plenty of headroom. The rear has less shoulder and legroom but is perfectly adequate for two adults or three children. Seating is firm and supportive and an excellent driving position can be reached by a wide range of adjustment available. The interior is modern with an upmarket feel which is enhanced by the upgraded steering wheel, instrument dials, air conditioning and stereo controls.
341 litres of decent boot space is provided which is slightly smaller than a Golf but the 60/40 rear split and fold seats boost space to 1,305 litres once folded. The boot entrance is slightly awkwardly shaped and unloading can be hampered by the high boot lip.

Four stars were awarded to the Seat Leon in the Euro NCAP crash test rating, although other hatchbacks like the Ford Focus and Peugeot 308 were awarded five. It was highlighted that structures in the dashboard were a potential hazard to the driver’s knees and femurs. However, a four star rating for child occupant safety is impressive. All models come with six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system and traction control.
