The Peugeot 308 SW may look like an ordinary family estate but choose the top spec and you gain an extra row of seats in the back to give you increased flexibility.

The 1.6 HDi comes with 110bhp and is a really efficient engine.  Average combined fuel economy is an impressive 58.8mpg and CO2 emissions are around 125g/km.  The top speed of the 1.6 HDi is 115mph and it will take a time of 11.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62mph.

Peugeot has really focussed on improving the quality of the interior and they have succeeded as it has a much more upmarket feel than the 307.  The soft touch dash, neat dials and improved switches are a nice finish and the overall layout is good.  Getting in and out of the car is made easier by the wide door openings and the tall body means generous headroom for all and a higher seating position gives rear passengers much better visbility.  Legroom is good but the third row of seats are really only suitable for smaller occupants.  The panoramic sunroof is a nice feature as it stretches almost the whole length of the car and lets in plenty of light.  The interior of the 308 SW is very clever as the three middle row seats can be individually removed quite easily and they can also slot into the rear in place of a less comfortable third row seat.  With five passengers luggage capacity is generous at 600 litres but with just the two front seats in place this is increased to a fantastic 2,149 litres which is more than the Mercedes E-Class estate.
