The Peugeot 207 is a great all rounder, is safe and stylish and comes well equipped.  If you are in the market for a small hatchback then the Peugeot 207 is definately worth considering.

The 207 comes with a good range of both petrol and diesel engines with 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre versions of both.  The favourite in the petrol engines is the 1.4-litre available in either 75bhp or 90bhp.  It is nippy and great for driving around town and copes well on motorways too.  The 1.4-litre 90bhp has now been replaced by a 1.4-litre VTi 95bhp engine and it now offers much better performance and improved refinement.  The 1.6-litre 110bhp petrol doesn’t need to be worked as much and offers a great drive.  The 1.4HDi and 1.6HDi are very strong diesel engines and both deliver good power across the range.  Average fuel economy for the diesel engines is around 65.7mpg.

There is an attractive dash which is clear and easy to use.  The driving position is excellent and comes with a highly adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel that adjusts for height and reach.  There is a large amount of glass which means all round visbility is excellent and this can be increased by adding the optional Panoramic extra large sunroof.  The controls are clearly laid out and easy to use.  The seats are comfortable and offer plenty of support on long journeys.  Space in the back is fine for two children but is tight for three adults.  There is an average sized glovebox with sub compartments which act as a coolbox on air-conditioned models.  There are also a few cupholders and door bins.  The rear seats split and fold 60/40 which increases the boot space which is average in size.

The entry level Urban model comes with power steering, dual front and side airbags, five three point seatbelts, height and reach adjustable steering wheel, driver’s seat height adjustment, CD stereo, ABS with emergency brake assist and body coloured door mirrors.  The S trim comes with air conditioning, electrically operated heated door mirrors, trip computer, curtain airbags and body coloured door handles.  The SE trim (five door models only) comes with a full lenth glass sunroof with sunblind and the Sport trim comes with alloy wheels, chrome exhaust trim, front sports seats, front fog lights, leather steering wheel gearknob, sun-reflecting windscreen and chrome interior door handles.  The top of the range GT comes with an auto-dipping rear view mirror, directional headlights, electronic stability programme, tyre pressure sensors, automatic lights and wipers, dual zone climate control, electric rear windows, a Thatcham Category 1 alarm, aluminium pedals, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather/cloth seat trim, silver colour door handles and a aluminium gear knob.

The 207 was awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests and comes with dual front, side and curtain airbags, five three point seatbelts, two Isofix childseat anchor points and strong side and front impact protection.  Remote central locking with deadlocks, automatic locking and immobiliser are all standard and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm is standard on the GT and GTi models but optional on all the other models.

The Peugeot 207 is much larger than its predecessor and is also more substantial.  It comes with a larger cabin, more space and higher levels of comfort and rear passengers will enjoy the ride more as the back is much more spacious.
