Lease a Ford S-Max from only £309.91 per month plus VAT.
After a car that drives brilliantly for an MPV, lots of car for your money, classy cabin; feels sturdy, seven airbags, roomy and flexible cabin, wide choice of engines, and you get the Ford S-Max. Designed to stand out from the crowd, the Ford S-Max is a people carrier but with a sporty edge, tight handling and sharp styling, and it has also gained a top five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test which puts it up with the best cars in the class.
The Ford S-Max is also very practical thanks to the seven seats and a fold flat load area. The two rear seats are really only suitable for kids or occasional use by adults but the middle row offers excellent comfort with each of the three seats being able to slide individually and also recline.
The interior of the S-Max is well built, clearly laid out and user-friendly. The controls are grouped together while steering wheel-mounted buttons make controlling functions such as the stereo easy. The rest of the layout is neat, if not a little adventurous, while the silver centre console adds a touch of class. The steering wheel and seat come with plenty of adjustment and the gear lever is positioned high up, giving an almost sporty feel.
Ford changed the engines of the S-Max at the beginning of 2010, dropping the 2.3-litre petrol and 1.8 TDCi engines. The petrol was replaced by a 2.0 EcoBoost SCTi – a turbocharged unit with 203bhp. Performance is impressive with 0-62mph taking 8.5 seconds, yet it is still able to return around 35mpg. The 1.8 TDCi was dropped in favour of the existing 2.0 TDCi, but now available in three different power outputs – 115bhp, 140bhp (as before) and the top 163bhp version. All three return an average of 50mpg.
You can expect the S-Max to be well built and reliable as modern Fords undergo some of the most stringent quality control tests of any cars on sale.
