Honda are ‘testing the water’ with their new Skydeck Minivan concept making an appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show.
With compact and mid-size sedan hybrids becoming increasingly common, Honda are extremely keen to include their minivan into this category too, so they have designed and created the Skydeck.

The Skydeck is an attention grabber, with its unusual door technology and the funky styled interior the real talking points. The Skydeck’s innovative door design features sliding rear doors and ‘Lambo’ scissor-style front doors.
These doors lead to a spacious passenger cabin that looks like something out of the Ikea catalogue. The interior is very minimalist with centre-mounted stackable floating seats and an all-glass roof which offers passengers with the chance to soak up the sun whilst reclining on any of the three rows of seats, and taking in some of the glorious views. And with the Skydeck being a hybrid, Honda continue to be amongst the market’s eco-friendly leaders, and also get extra stars for having translucent green wheels.
To give the Honda Skydeck greater cabin space and a lower centre of gravity, many of the hybrid system components, including the high power battery are housed in the car’s centre tunnel rather than behind the seats or under the floor, as with previous production hybrids.
The Skydeck Concept will be on show at the Tokyo Motor Show starting October 21st along with a new CR-Z prototype and a number of other special Honda creations.
