Honda has decided to give their CR-V a facelift and will also feature a new diesel engine and an automatic gearbox when it goes on sale next year.
The Honda CR-V’s current CTDi engine, which emits 173g/km of CO2, will be replaced by a cleaner 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. This new engine should emit around 150g/km of CO2, so should be good all round for tax savings. It should also be cheaper to run, as fuel efficiency should also improve from 43.5mpg up to 50mpg.
The SUV also gets a visual makeover with updated front and rear bumpers, and new front grille and some re-designed 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels.
Other features will come as standard, such as air-conditioning and heated door mirrors, with ES models also getting cruise control, electric mirrors, dual-zone air conditioning, parking sensors, front fog lights and iPod connectivity.
The top-of-the-range EX models will also get Xenon headlights, body-coloured bumpers, a leather interior, heated front seats, a six-disc CD changer, sat-nav and a panoramic glass roof.
There are also other options available, including Adaptive Cruise Control which automatically maintains a safe distance from the car in front, and collision Mitigation Braking System. This is another a great feature, which warns the driver of a potential collision, then applies the brakes and retracts the front seats belts.
Honda’s UK factory in Swindon is very busy building the new CR-V at the moment, with the car due to go on sale in January 2010.
