Reports from Italy confirm that Ferrari will launch an open top version of its beautiful 458 within the next two years.
The Italian firm launched the Ferrari 458 Italia at the recent motor show in Frankfurt, and with Spider versions already available for the 458′s predecessors, the 360 Modena and F430, which were both a huge success, there was bound to be a Spider version of the 458 too.
Mock-ups have surfaced on the web, and although no official images have been released by Ferrari, it’s safe to presume that this will be yet another striking Italian stallion.
First deliveries of the hard-top Ferrari 458 start in mid-January, and, as work is already underway on the Spider model, its launch shouldn’t be too far behind. Pricing for the hard-top 458 will set you back around £175,000, so don’t expect much change from £190,000 for the soft-top version.
This lovely looking motor’s main competitor is McLaren’s new MP4-12C supercar, but the 458 Italia will produce 562bhp with power coming from a 4.5-litre V8 engine and will be the highest-revving Ferrari road car ever.
Seven-time Formula One world champion, Michael Schumacher, has carried out some extensive work on this ‘entry level’ Ferrari, and played a major development role.
