Cadillac used the recent Detroit motor show to launch the coupe version of their most powerful car ever, the Cadillac CTS-V.
The Caddy coupe has a pretty much completely redesigned body shell, with only the front wings, headlights and grille being shared with the saloon version. The Coupe uses a larger bulge in the new bonnet to cover the supercharger and much more air being sucked through the wider and meaner front grilles to help keep the engine cool. The shorter rear end has central twin exhausts which also boost the fierce, sporty looks.
The engine is the same as the saloon, the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 pumping out a massive 556bhp and 551 lb-ft of torque, and, in tandem with the choice of six-speed automatic or manual transmission, taking the car from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds. The Coupe will be even faster and handle much better than the saloon though, with better Brembo brakes, new Michelin tyres, a wider rear track, GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, and in particular, a lower roofline and flatter windscreen improving aerodynamics, as well as reducing weight.
Prices for the new Caddy CTS-V coupe are yet to be revealed but the car is expected to be in production this summer.
