Drivers Love Their Car As Much As Their Family

carloveA recent survey showed some extraordinary results in which 9% of motorists said they loved their car as much as their family!

The survey by Carmony.co.uk showed that drivers had a real connection with their cars, with one third of 1,271 people questioned admitting that they were “very fond” of their vehicles. One out of five gave their car a pet name and almost a quarter claimed that they talked to their cars, whilst 3% went so far as to kiss their cars!

To underline the affection shown by car owners, 4% cover the walls of their garages with carpet or soft material to prevent dents and scratches, and over a fifth saying that they even claimed an extra car parking space to protect their car. 8% of those questions had a picture of their car on their mobile phone, and 5% had a picture in their wallet or on their computer. 44% of those questioned have had sex in (thankfully not with!) their car, and 47% had slept in their vehicle.

Carmony.co.uk pointed out that a car is often the second most expensive purchase we make after a house so it’s not surprising the care and attention shown, but that stroking the dash and hugging the car could be perceived as “a step too far.”
