Brabus Smart High Voltage

The German tuners Brabus have shown off a new version of its sporty little electric Smart Fortwo called the Unlimited High Voltage, which is the updated version of the company’s electric Smart ED concept.

This cutesy little car features a lithium ion battery pack which is supplied by Tesla Motors, Daimler’s vehicle partner, and with its rear mounted electric motor, also developed by Tesla, offers 82bhp and 207lb ft of torque.  Brabus say that this is plenty to push the petite electric machine to 60mph in just less than 10 seconds.

Outside, the Brabus features LED running lights for increased visibility in the daytime, with other interesting features including aerodynamic wheels with clear plexiglass covers, and wider skirts to improve airflow whilst giving a look with an unusual mix of cuteness and sporting power.  And to complete this look, it is also a convertible with a white soft top.

The inside of this car matches the individuality of the exterior, with yellow stitched, white leather seats which join a console-mounted monitor displaying the remaining state of charge.  The batteries are recharged from a standard mains power outlet and are 80% recharged after three hours, and fully charged after eight.

The most interesting and impressive thing about the UHV is the sound generator.  It is fitted with a little unit that allows the driver make this pocket-sized electric car sound like a boisterous V8 powered racecar!

Unfortunately, you can’t get your hands on the UHV as yet, as it is still in the concept stage, but a near-production development of the Electric Drive concept may not be too far away.

You can still help the environment until then, by checking out our range of Green Cars to lease.
