Prepare for a series of ongoing teasing as BMW release the first ever image of their new 5-Series, by using a very unusual and rather spectacularly unique way of doing so – bags of shiny silver balls!
Instead of using the typical shadowy teaser shots, BMW chose to install a “kinetic sculpture” of the new 5-Series profile at their museum in Munich, Germany, with balls hanging very similar to that of ‘Newton’s Cradle’. This is sure to be the first in a likely succession of new 2011 5-Series preview images and videos.
The video shows a softer, less extreme design that the current 5-Series has, and is absolutely entrancing to watch. It shows the individually controlled, 714 balls hanging from the ceiling making some really complex patterns.
Looking with intent at the sculpture, you will get glimpses of the entire 7-Series side profile along with a large dose of 5-Series GT in the mix too. It is quite clear from the images that the new 5-Series will sport a softer and less extreme design to that of the current model.
BMW will replace the extravagant art with the actual model, which will be officially launched on Monday 23rd November at 7pm where there will be a “Live-Stream of the unveiling ceremony”.
