Audi Avatar Concept – Real-life Computer Racing Game

Audi Avatar

Aspiring car designer Edwin Conan has shaped the future for Audi cars by creating his vision for a supercar come the year 2032.  His creation has been named the ‘Avatar’ which is a low-slung concept that seats three passengers in a McLaren style F1 ‘V’ setup.

The idea behind the design of this futuristic styled machine is for drivers to experience the same thrill and pleasure of driving that they felt when playing racing games during their childhood days, as the appearance is very similar to that of the science fiction flying cars that kids used to watch.

The exterior design of the car was inspired by the form of fabric blowing in the wind, which also carried traces of the historical Auto Union Type C Streamline race.  Beneath the four outstretched fins of this concept are four extremely powerful wheels which all house their own electric motor.

This means that the Avatar will be zero emissions, as well as benefitting from Audi’s trademark “Quattro” four-wheel-drive.  Inspired by jet fighters, there are three glass canopies instead of regular doors, and the main canopy opens forward along with the steering wheel and dashboard.  The passengers’ canopies open backwards, and a further side panel on the body opens downwards to use as a step.  This makes the action of getting in and out of the Avatar cockpit very easy as well and becoming an extremely special event.

As it is one continuous sheet that starts at the dashboard, then bends and folds to create the flooring and the seats, the interior of the Avatar is just as sleek as the exterior, which compliment each other fantastically.   And all important data, including speed and mileage, are all displayed on a single transparent LCD sheet, and a screen in the centre of the steering wheel displays a digital map too.  This information can also be projected onto the canopy by a head-up display.  And it isn’t without its storage space either, as the Avatar also has a small luggage space behind the driver seat for handbags and suitcases.

The Avatar Concept is powered by high energy super-charge ion batteries, and with the ultra lightweight aerodynamic body along with the powerful drive train and excellent handling, it can produce some extreme g-force, as it accelerates from 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds and then onto a top speed of a rather quite terrifying 225mph!
