At this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Seat will give us a closer look at their new Leon Cupra-R, their most powerful car to date, and what a beauty it is.

If you can peel your eyes away from the Cupra-R’s muscular exterior, the front-wheel drive hides away a four-cylinder, 16-valve 2.0-litre direct injection TSI turbocharged engine underneath the bonnet, pushing it to hit 62mph in just 6.1 seconds, and hitting 155mph at top speed. The Spanish company’s new flagship model delivers 261bhp, matching the power of Seat’s Leon TDI World Touring Car, with a combined fuel consumption of just under 35mg.
The Seat Leon Cupra-R has plenty of “Cupra” and “R” logos emblazoned on the central grille and at the sides to keep the hardened hot-hatchers happy. As expected, the constant reminder that you are driving a beast of a car doesn’t stop there either; the Cupra has placed an “R” badge right on the instrument dial, and has many other features of a sporty car.

The bucket seats are upholstered in grey Alcantara, it has a leather-clad multi-functional steering wheel, white LED lights on the instrument dials and aluminium-trimmed pedals. The body of the Cupra sits on 19″ five double-spoke alloys encased by ultra-low profile 235/35 tyres, and has 17″ brake discs. And if you were worried about the safety aspect of driving this beauty around, the Cupra R has many other little functions and features; airbags everywhere, ESP, low tyre pressure warning, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensors, cruise control, trip computer, cornering fog lights, dual zone climate control and an MP-3 compatible eight-speaker CD/radio. What more could one ask for?
